Homosexuality refers to attraction or sexual behavior between people of the same sex, or to a sexual orientation. As an orientation, homosexuality refers to "an enduring pattern of or disposition to experience sexual, affectional, or romantic attractions primarily to" people of the same sex; "it also refers to an individual’s sense of personal and social identity based on those attractions, behaviors expressing them, and membership in a community of others who share them."
Homosexuality has been present in human societies throughout history. The etiology is unclear but appears to involve a complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors. Contemporary Western society continues to discriminate against homosexual individuals, although in many social institutions most people are showing more acceptance of homosexuality, especially in the United States.
Psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals agree that homosexuality is not an illness, a mental disorder, or an emotional problem. Homosexual is just a normal thing, they are still same as us, a normal human being with love and feeling.
同性恋是什么？
同性恋是指男或女在「性」和「情感」上受同性的吸引。人们一般把经历这种吸引 / 这种同性间吸引的人称为同性恋者、男同志、女同志。如果某人长期经验同性间吸引，就可以称为「同性恋倾向」。同性恋与同性性行为并不是完全等同的。一个有同性性行为的个体不一定是同性恋者。同性恋不是犯罪，也不是邪恶，更不是心理疾病，只不过是有这种倾向的人将自己的这种愿望付诸实现他们有属于自己的感觉，他们只能自己选择，而不能听从于别人或社会所需的那种选择。少数不等于病态，更不是妖怪。他们也是正常的人，也要有正当的权利。
